Wall Street’s looking to the Clouds

Wall Street firms are considering leasing out the excess capacity of their servers in off-peak hours. “Once 4:30 rolls around, we don’t need those machines,” said Daniel Marques, the chief technology officer of Ballista Securities, which runs an alternative trading system (ATS) for options traders. While there’s untapped potential revenue to be realized here, it would at the same time reduce wasted energy consumption. Good stuff.
